Nestled in The Village shopping area in Gatlinburg is a small cheese shop called the Cheese Cupboard. On its own, it is a very nice cheese shop with a good variety of cheeses. When you add to it the restaurant that is upstairs you’ve found a hidden gem in Gatlinburg that most people don’t even realize is there. The Hofbrauhaus Restaurant boasts the best Reuben in town and that is a reputation that they live up to.
There is a pervading thought that says when the sun sets, there is nothing to see in the Smokies. Nothing could be further from the truth. Stargazing in the Smokies is a wonderful way to spend an evening of your Smoky Mountain vacation.
It’s now less than a month before Gatlinburg is lit up like so many other towns around the holidays, except this year the old town is taking it a step further.
The light switch to Gatlinburg’s Winter Magic lighting display will be flipped up on Nov. 9 and for four months visitors can cruise, mouths agape, through the wintery lighting spectacular.

Open to adults or children Sept. 24 & 25 – this event pits visitors and locals, with multiple categories to be contested in this largest trout tournament in the Smokies.
